The day started out rainy and awful. The show was planned to be played outdoors with no cover over the stage and so there was discussions of whether or not the show would even get to be played at all. Right around 3 pm the sun came out and the weather became perfect for an outdoor show, not too hot, not too cold.

It was amazing to see all the people lined up watching the show from the bridges.

The sunset on the water behind Mat provided the perfect backdrop to “All I Need”. Wish everyone could have been there to see it. It was beautiful. Cheers to you Des Moines!

Could you please retract my last comment? I just cked my e-mail and found the info. about your fall tour additions…very wierd, but never-the-less, I would rather not give out my e-mail to the public. Thanks!
How embarassing! Not only did I apparently send the same message twice, but you went ahead and posted it after I aked you kindly not to. Well, as long as it is out there now, Yes, if anyone wants the 2 NY tix, they’re yours…just e-mail me. Thanks alot, Jonny! I really didn’t want my e-mail posted, though I guess i have learned a valuable lesson. i never should’ve acted so hastily in the first place. Who knew? No idea about tour additions on my end!
I am ninety-nine percent sure that no one but me saw that post — so whoever thinks that they are getting free tickets to the show, can just forget about that email address . . . it’s really to the great and famous Des Moines Police Department — and you know what that means! Ha! In the meantime, maybe I will take her up on the deal . . . I would love to see you again, Mat! We had fun in your studio audience at Clear Channel Radio 106.3 — Yes! I have never been, so I was thrilled to get the invite. Wish I could afford to go see you in NYC (gotta love that town) but I probably work that day anyway. Hmm, guess you do too! Hope we meet again. Thanks for coming to us and be safe — LC
Hey Jon, please give Des Moines a break and delete her email. Des Moines is a fan trying to do a good deed because Des Moines loves Mat. Mat, come back and see us. I am always mezmerized by your songs. The rhythm is like poetry. Have you tried for the $100,000 on Poetry.com? I have, but obviously not winning the jackpot or would meet you in NY in September — LC
I took the afternoon off work and made the 2 hour trip to Des Moines to see Mat Kearney (and associates)
play at the outdoor theatre. Needless to say I was NOT disappointed. Yes, people were sitting in their chairs until you pointed it out to us. I guess us Iowans are “polite” as was pointed out by Erin. LOL. I’m so gald that you put us on your schedule so you could play outside,…..by the river….since that was something you always wanted to do…you know…play by the river….
It was a great time and the highlight of my trip to Des Moines. Looking forward to having you back so I may take the afternoon off, drive 2 hours and see you once again play by the river…. Much Love, Melinda
Mat, if you think the river is great, you should come play by the lake! (there is nothing better than horses by the lake — except for a few small things) By the way in your vid, Nothing Left to Lose, what is the horse story there? Hmm. Interesting. On another note, the first black and white shot of you going down the stairs by the river in Des Moines would have been an awesome companion for your City of Black and White. I think your videos are the best, and I especially enjoyed the one in Nashville where you heard Lynard’s FreeBird (was that real?). To Des Moines — I hope everything will be okay with the email - aside from the defense already run, i will gladly send good thoughts for you, and hope others do the same. — L
Thanks for the support Loolie! I haven’t hit the winning jackpot either… and now there seems to be some pre-sale password for internet ticket pre- sales, which i haven’t got…I have tide, not beer though
Ps Since I’ve obviously lost my identity…if you care, Mat you can ck out GraceandGibson on twitter…my blogs seem to be moderated for extaordinary
lengths of time
Sorry Des Moines… the label approves the comments too. Probably without reading them first. I’ll update the comment with your e-mail.
I meant delete
Love the photos on this blog. Just curious, are these HDR?
Nope, not HDR…
The pix are getting more and more Black and White (translation: DEVASTATING)! Your photographer deserves a raise. (does this get me a free pass? — ok, I’ll work on my technique) Talk to you later . …. — LC
even better
Did you notice DSM has got a pretty good blog going?! Where it’s going, we don’t know. But I guess the DSM blog will just have to find a purpose — maybe to rally to get Mat back to DSM . . . . — LC
we won’t be sitting this time! — LC
